There’s been this heaviness on our collective hearts already this year. From the start, the year already sent us in a tailspin, which is just a lot and too much all at once. Your heart may feel heavy right now, and your mind may have thousands of thoughts inside, but before we let our "heavy hearts" take us on a downward spiral, where we may tend to focus more on negative experiences, and since the year is still young, let’s take steps to self-soothe our hearts by focusing on the beautifully simple, pleasurable moments of life.
While joy isn't solely dependent on external circumstances, noticing the small, beautiful moments in our lives that bring us joy is like a windshield wiper. It helps clear away the thick fog that the world relentlessly heaps on us, keeping us in a state that feels like we’re swirling in a sea of dense fog that leaves our hearts feeling heavy.
But along the same vein as the thought of what you focus on grows, finding the moments of joy that exist even in pain can shift our perspective to explore in greater depth all the simple things in life that bring us joy, which can ease a heavy heart.
Here’s why taking time to reflect on the seemingly insignificant fleeting little moments of joy we often overlook or take for granted is not just responsible for making a single day better; it also contributes significantly to the overall quality and happiness of our lives as a whole. Essentially, they are the threads that weave together the tapestry of our lives, creating a rich and textured fabric of joyful memories. We often don't realize how much these small moments matter until we reflect on them.
So, with that in mind, here are 30 of my favorites (but not limited to…) that bring me so much joy. I want to share them with you to inspire you to get started. Think of all the little enjoyable bits that make a big difference in our overall well-being: everyday basic things such as a beautiful sunset, a good cup of tea or coffee, a tight hug from a loved one, and a snuggle with your furry friend.
Also, treating oneself with pretty jewels, from a classic watch to a darling necklace, can be a good start.
